Every fellowship begins somewhere, somehow, sometime. Some with inane spontaneity, others with lengthy poignancy. Or you have Adam & Eve - plenty spontaneous, plenty poignancy (first couple ever, no?). As for us? You can judge for yourself.
The idea that began it all was the bizarre challenge of walking up Genting Hill. No shit. W-A-L-K U-P. And by the way, it was Christmas when we kicked off. We practically celebrated Christmas on the hill slope. But it wasnt all crazy if i told you that we had a second primary to hunt for a waterfall and ... er ... dip in it ... and er ... splash water ... and leave. Or whatever it is that you waterfall aficionados do when you go to one.
So one fine morning, dated 25th December 2007, with our bags and hands crammed full with assorted necessities and redundancies alike, sitting at the bus depot at One Utama waiting for our bus to Genting Cable Car station, we were a peculiar sight to other sentient Genting-goers, both young and old.
Reaching the cable car station, we consulted a taxi driver on the whereabouts of a nearby waterfall. Pointing down the slope of the old road, the taxi dude told us its about 12 km that way. Heeding his direction without a sense of how far 12 km is on foot, we went with high hopes and spirits....for like 20 minutes. Hands were sore by then carrying the 5 litre bottles of water. Downhill may sound like a breeze but the impact of gravity on our knee joints was taking its toll. Too used to being urbanites, we were getting weary way too soon for an adventure this great. Fortunately, along our way, we had some interesting finds worthy of cam-whoring to take some edge of our stressful journey:
Somehow, we covered nearly 8 km when a hitchhiker offered us a ride. We couldnt be more grateful for this godsend Samaritan....but not for long. He introduced himself as Ah Tee and he spoke Cantonese, which only Ckent was any good to converse in. So we the rest sat behind, watching dumbly as Ah Tee took us down to the foothill, took a left, weave left right left everywhere before finally dump us at this waterfall he recommended, somewhere in Ulu Yam. He left before we got to see the place for ourselves, which was fortunate, FOR HIM, cos otherwise we would have had his head for bringing us there. The blardy waterfall was BROWN and is teemed with COLOURED PEOPLE (no offence here, just conjuring a vivid picture). We ... were ... dumbstruck. 3 days in this mudhole. NO FREAKING WAY! So we had ourselves a burger each at a Ramlee stall there (it was noon by then), dump our 5 litre water bottles and started hiking towards Genting.
With renewed vigor and lighter load, we covered the unknown grounds between ourselves and Genting at a satisfying pace. But we know it aint good enough. So as we walked, we put up our hands in the universal hitchhiker gesture. Knowing the rotten attitude of selfishness of us Malaysian, we werent hopeful in getting a ride. But our faith in mankind was restored when a Malay couple with a pick-up stopped by and offered us a ride. We couldnt be more grateful ... (no buts here, the Malay couple were good). They then dropped us at the foothill of Genting Hill. Looking at the sign before us, we knew it aint gonna be a smooth Christmas holiday:
You ever had yourself in one of those situations where you just NEED to get something done, something so important or unavoidable, something like studying last minute for Biology in SPM, where you cant sleep, eat (even though you want to with all your life!!) until the deed is done (which coincidentally never does). Your mind is shutting down, eyes can hardly stay open, body's asleep, cravings running wild. But all you could do was just move forward, one page at a time.
Same shit, different surroundings. We were just walking and walking and walking... Our legs were screaming to give up, our minds yielding to hebetude. We were just focusing at the top of one slope, which when reached with 10-15 minutes effort, is the bottom of another. Take this and multiply it by a score? Two? I dunno, none of us had the mental capacity to keep track.
We were at it for hours, thinking things couldnt be worse ... until it did get worse. It started pouring. With winds billowing, our windbreaker did little to keep us warm and dry. Soon we were as wet as the road, socks and all. With the impending darkness, nowhere to camp and more slopes to cover, we were losing hope in living altogether. We nearly wanted to camp on the roadside, which will inevitably make us roadkills by sun break. However, we pressed on and found a waterfall ... with MAMAK!! Woohoo! Cheers be life!
There's only so much a human body and mind can take, and ours was approaching its limit. To be settling down under a shade with food and drinks after all that crap, it was revitalizing. When we were done consuming, we started preparing for the night. We scoured for a camp site, colleted some firewood and build a fire pit. When done, we strip down and jump into the waterfall (did i mention, we camped next to one ^_^) and stayed in there until twilight approached. That night, we spent our time chatting like manly blokes we are, helped Keeps futilely start a fire in wet conditions, stopped helping Keeps start a fire in wet condition, started critisizing Keeps for trying to start fire in a wet condition before we called it a night.
Even then, it was hardly any rest. We had ourselves a visit from the ostensible "jaga" of the place. He came over with torchlight and stick and demanded to check our I/C. After ascertaining us as legit Malaysians, he told us the site was not for camping. When asked why, he mentioned that the place was "diiiiiiiiirty". He left us after a while, and we retired to our tent with newfound fear for our surroundings. Brrr, what a cold night.... and what's that shadow on that tree....

Abandoned Series - Pekeliling Flats - Reconnoiter
And we went into hiatus....for like a month. Except for Wei Jin. He is still under the radar with a ligament surgery so the hiatus is extended for him (and only him). As for us, getting back together again in CKent's newly fixed car (if you're thinking Brokeback, for the last time, we aint GAY!!! except for one...ehem...) never felt so revitalizing *Hell Yea!!!*
That night started off, as usual, with a drink at Rasta. With us that night is our special friend all the way from India - Bra Low. Yup, that's his name. Only for decency does he fills in his name as B**** ***© (censured due to pending copyright issues). We had ourselves some catching up, the usual chat with an occasional side glances and concomitant secret codes at passing curvaceous distractions....ehem....
On our way out, i saw a homophonetically humorous line on one of the signboards they have there in Rasta. Now i'm presenting this to the world for laughs purely on humor and there's no religion bias shit whatsoever. Kinda like how Chinese have names like Tan Fak Yu and Punjabs with Sakdeep. So without further ado, here it is *drumrolls please*

"ALFAKHER" - I dont know what it means but whatever it is, it'll never sound decent in my ears.
Moving on, there were about 45 minutes of our lives not worth blogging here so I fast forward. Aboard SS Purple Saga, the four of us (Keeps, Chid, Ckent, Alan) headed to the possibly scariest compound in KL herself - Pekeliling Flats. With about 6 abandoned blocks, its looming 17-floor facade towering over us with dark, lurid vibes ebbing out from its broken windows and doorless entrances, there's little doubt about its horror value.

Entering block E, we moved with extreme caution, armed with nail-enhanced used-to-be bed post and wooden sticks. Garbage of motley sorts covered every inch of its outdoor courtyard.

There were no signs of hostile beings (drug addicts & paranormal visitations) all the way up to level 2. However, upon extensive discussion amidst the stupid mosquitoes, we decided against going all the way up to the rooftop due to various reasons...

Thereafter, we headed home with little to tell. But be assured, Pekeliling Flats isnt going to be left alone for long....

Abandoned Series - Niko Nikodon
Here's a sad fact. Although this blog (oven-fresh - only bout 2 months old!!) is primarily espoused to report on all the crazy exploits of my crew and i, my first good post is on a feat done in respect and in honor of our approaching hiatus.
Ignore who we are for the moment, just know that we are addicted to out-of-the-norms and ball-shrinking activities. Like taking a walk in the jungle...at nite, playing the ouija board....in the jungle....at nite, taking a stroll in the cemetery....at nite....the list goes on and on...
Which i MIGHT talk about some other day. Which brings me back. To last nite...

Travel report: To save thousands of words, i've added some maps with scribblings on it for a clearer picture of our (mis)adventure.

So, as you can see, journey was smooth...up til Brickfields. There we got lost and lost-er til we met our knight in shining armor - an auxiliary policeman stationed in KL Sentral. Thanks for not busting us for driving in Kent's one-eyed busted car. That and for the directions, of course. And on we went...

This time, we found the area we were looking for - Taman Seputeh. But as you can see from the green bundle of lines around the Taman Seputeh area, we were still lost. But our saving grace was that we were lost closer to our target. Time's not all wasted, however, as we found this interesting sign as we were roaming:

Yea yea, i KNOW it meant something a lot LESS interesting but things would be a whole lot MORE interesting if it were literal, no? XD
Amusing sign aside, we had a near-adventure-killer moment - we stumbled into the cops making their round in the area. A bunch of s u s p i c i o u s looking teenagers in a s u s p i c i o u s looking car roaming s u s p i c i o u sly in the neighborhood at a s u s p i c i o u s time. Yea, we were prime candidates for hoodlums in the eyes of these cops. Our moment of suspense came when Wei Jin said he left his IC at home. Ohhhhhh f@rk.... But somehow, we manage to escape without resorting to the "incentive scheme", which would have left our wallets a lot lighter. Phew...

FINALLY, we found our place.....which was in another area! All the while we thought it was in Taman Seputeh while it was actually in Taman Pesiaran Desa. We were so close ... yet so far. But hell, we found our place and we could barely contain ourselves....and our pee in our bladders when we saw Niko Nikodon with our own eyes....

We went in through the back entrance of this majestic piece of land. Through the door (picture above) was an empty room with rather interesting (and freaky when viewed in the wee hours) graffiti...

Through the door with the clown graffiti was a stairs leading to locked doors...

So we went back outside and through a gate. We followed path up til we saw another derelict building. We soon found out that the building housed a swimming pool on its top. And in to the pool we went....Oops, no water....

Looming over the pool is the sneering facade of the main building, complete with holes in the wall which used to be windows. Shards of glasses and pieces of woods filled the floor, or what's left of it...

as parts of the ceiling caved in. Woah, is....that...hair....?

Ah haha, guess not. But in spite of our primeval instinct (aka C.Kent) telling us to turn back and go home, we pressed on....

First thing we saw as we entered - Dissent. Chid willingly posed next to it with his jari hantu erected straight. Ahh..you gotta love the spirit (pardon the pun) ....
We went into this room next. I gotta say, it was the one single room that freaked me out the most. The first thing we saw...

Took chid and i some guts to pose next to it...

We stayed in the room quite a while til we started to feel that the subtle stench of rot (i think) we felt when we first enter began to intensify to near unbearable. Spooky...
We then went around, checking out broken toilets and smashed-up rooms before we headed upstairs...

And took a group picture...

And found some nice graffiti...

After checking out the main building, we went into another nearby. Within, there were plenty of shelves which we discerned to be the library. Aside from being pitch black inside, we found nothing interesting. So we began to move towards the exit...
On the way out, we went into the building near the gates. Which we left for last as we expected to make some freaky discoveries within. And we did. There were this mini plaster-of-paris face, like the one in the picture below. Interestingly, we found it on random places all over. And there was also this symmetrical side profile sketch of a man's head (picture below). Again, we found it littered around and everywhere.

Along the way, we found some inspirational words that kept us going...

And found more craft...

And did more fatal framing...

After an exhausting 90 minutes, we headed towards our car and left...and lived to tell.
I didnt notice anything odd in the pictures above but if you see something i dont, please leave a comment. Comments on the size of our balls are welcomed as well. XD
